At Pilgrim Baptist Church, our Food Ministry is a vital part of our mission to serve the physical and spiritual needs of our community. In partnership with Feeding America and the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, we are committed to fighting hunger and food insecurity in the Durham area. Through this ministry, we operate a food distribution program that provides fresh produce, pantry staples, and essential nutrition to individuals and families in need. Our volunteers serve with love, dignity, and compassion—because we believe that no one should go hungry.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Everyone is eligible! We welcome anyone who needs assistance. No ID or documentation is required. To help us best serve you, we do ask that you provide some basic information by filling out a form, including your name and the number of people in your family. This information is used to help understand the needs of our community and ensure that we have enough resources to serve everyone. Thank you for your cooperation!
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
- We are open Wednesdays from 11:30AM-1PM and Fridays from 12:30PM-2PM.
- When you arrive follow the directions of the attendant to find the line
- Please do not block the road or intersections with your vehicle.
- Once you get in line please unlock and open your trunk and we will load your boxes or bags for you.
WHAT TYPES OF FOOD ARE TYPICALLY AVAILABLE?
Our offerings include a range of dry goods such as cereal, rice, beans, canned goods, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, bread, and meat when possible. While the availability of specific items may vary depending on donations and seasonal changes, our goal is to provide a nutritious and balanced range of foods each week.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE TO GET OUT OF MY CAR?
Nope! Make sure there is room in your trunk (or back seat), and open your trunk as you pull into the parking lot. Our volunteers will load the food into your car for you
DO I HAVE TO HAVE A CAR?
While a car will make transport a lot easier. If you do not have a vehicle feel free to walk the line.
WHERE DOES THE FOOD COME FROM?
We source our food from a variety of places to ensure that we can provide a diverse range of nutritious options for our visitors. The bulk of our food comes from distributors such as the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, Interfaith Food Shuttle, Farmer Foodshare, Whole Foods, Costco, Happy Dirt, and El Camino.
Whether you need support or want to volunteer, the doors of Pilgrim Baptist Church are open.
