Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
Our Commitment to One Another
- We promise that we will watch over and counsel one another in the spirit of brotherly love.
- We will remember each other in prayer and aid one another in sickness and distress.
- We will cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech.
- We willl be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the teachings of our Savior to secure it without delay.
Our Commitment to the Church
- We will sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines.
- We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
- We will seek to advance the church’s prosperity and spirituality, giving it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin.
Our Commitment to Christian Living
- We covenant to maintain family and secret devotions, to religiously educate our children, and to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances.
- We will walk circumspectly in the world, striving to live justly in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our conduct.
- We will avoid all gossiping, backbiting, and excessive anger.
- We will strive to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, seeking a good report before the world.
- We will endeavor to avoid all things that cause our brother to stumble or that bring reproach upon the cause of Christ.
Our Commitment in Transition
Should we move from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
